Editor’s Newsletter
Dear Subscribers, Last December, we sent out this newsletter for the first time. We hope this past year has provided you with some insight into news from Korea and the labor safety and health movement.
On December 3, 2024, the President illegally declared martial law, sparking months of struggle by countless citizens fighting to restore democracy.
While the new government has announced plans to reduce occupational accidents, showing a difference from the previous administration, its approach remains accident-focused. It still exhibits limitations such as excluding the health rights of women, sexual minorities, and migrant workers, or relying on fragmented thinking.
Moreover, in Korea, workers have died in accidents at power plants, and many have lost their lives due to night work.
In 2026, we must fight more broadly to protect the right of all workers to be safeguarded from illness, including mental health, and to create safe and healthy workplaces for everyone, regardless of industry or type of labor.
Thank you for your support throughout the year.
If you have any questions, please reply to this email.
Thank you.
